STAND for Peace

STAND for Peace. On September 20th, we recognize the International Day of Peace by building community and celebrating its voices. We will honor the challenges being faced our friends and neighbors by listening to their stories, and we will celebrate the work we can do as a community that wants better for our children with music, snow-cones, storytelling, and bubbles!

While we consider the “big” work to be done here in Georgia and across the US, we will meet and recognize those doing good work here in the greater Atlanta area and learn how to plug in. STAND is honored to partner with the Afghan-American Alliance of Georgia in welcoming:

GA Equality

DAMES Doing Good

Trans Joy

Coalition for a Diverse DeKalb

and other partners doing good work right now around Atlanta.

STAND is excited to collaborate with StoryMuse in ensuring the voices of the people are heard, and will welcome 285 South and Georgia Voice – media partners dedicated to projecting the often overlooked voices of Atlanta’s immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities out into the world.

Come celebrate our community – our whole community – with STAND. Help us build the community we want to live in, and let’s show our children how it’s done. Please tell us you’re coming here: https://forms.gle/zkmjkX4UnwhjsdfWA

Sound Science Saves Lives

Fired But Fighting, Indivisible Georgia Coalition, 50501 Georgia, Stand Up for Science, STAND, Science for Georgia, and allies stand together against the Trump administration’s assault on public health programming and scientific research. We are gathering on August 16, 2025, ahead of the International Society of Exposure Science (ISES) and the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology's (ISEE) annual meeting in Atlanta, joined by international researchers because the administration’s policies and cuts to scientific institutions affect the entire world.

STAND and its allies will gather at 10am on August 16th, 2025 on the corner of 10th and Peachtree in Atlanta to protest for a return to sound science and public service. Bring your signs in support of the CDC, Medicaid, Public Health, and other health and scientific programs under threat. Check out the flyer, let us know you’re coming here, and we’ll look forward to projecting a message of dignity and compassionate governance out to a global audience!
