20250527 STAND Newsletter – General meeting announcement

Dear Friends,

I’ve been emailing you a lot in the past couple of weeks around the rally we held on the 17th, so I’ll keep this week's newsletter relatively short. Through all of your efforts, STAND has reached an important inflection point as we wrap up a months-long campaign around government transparency and the right to access public information. On Saturday, May 31st at 3pm, (this Saturday!), we’ll review that campaign at our upcoming general meeting, and begin to chart our path forward. We’ve got a lot to celebrate, and exciting new avenues for impact that our work so far has made possible that I’m looking forward to telling you about.

As we did in our last meeting, we will have opportunities to directly plug into the work our community is doing. Come ready to start thinking about the No Kings protest coming up on June 14th, get in some megaphone practice if that’s your thing, or make some phone calls to follow up on the letters we sent to our elected officials on the 17th. We’ll always have the opportunity for some community building, and I’ll be announcing some new kinds of events that I’m pretty excited about going forward for STAND. There’s lots to do, and we’ll be there to help you do it!

Also, if you happen to be free before the meeting, join our members at Clairemont Oaks for a rally from 12pm-12:20 to bring attention to the cuts to medicare, medicaid, and social services looming in the federal budget under consideration through Washington. I’ll be there with the family dog! Come by and STAND in support of our elders that have spent their lives working for a better world for us all.

STANDing with you all,

Matt
